WORCESTER — Officers from the Worcester Police Department Vice Squad arrested two men and recovered a loaded handgun during a surveillance operation at the Worcester Common on Nov. 7.
At approximately 9 a.m., officers noticed a suspicious hand-to-hand transaction involving three individuals.
One of the men, identified as Fabian Beltran, 32, of Spencer, was observed engaging in what appeared to be drug deals with two other individuals.
After intervening, officers confirmed that Beltran was distributing bags of marijuana.
During the encounter, officers also searched Keith Massicotte, 41, of Wilson St., and found him in possession of a loaded handgun.
Massicotte, who does not possess a firearms license, was arrested and charged with unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm, unlawfully carrying a firearm, possession of ammunition without a Firearms Identification Card (FID), and being an Armed Career Criminal Level 2.
Beltran was taken into custody and is facing two counts of distribution of a Class D substance.
The Worcester Police Department continues to investigate the incident and encourages anyone with information to come forward.
