ESSEX JUNCTION — A bank robbery occurred at KeyBank on Pearl Street Tuesday afternoon, with the suspect claiming to possess an explosive device.
Essex police responded to the scene at approximately 4:49 p.m. after a man entered the bank and demanded money from a teller.
The suspect, described as a slender white male between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall with brown hair and eyes, was given an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the bank on foot.
According to the authorities, he was wearing a dark hoodie, a black face covering, and a checkered shirt with dark squares outlined in red.
The suspect carried an orange Hannaford grocery bag during the heist.
There were no customers present during the incident, and no bank employees were harmed.
The investigation is currently in its initial phase, and the Essex Police Department will release more information as it becomes available.
