Boston traffic stop leads to firearm recovery, arrest

BOSTON — A routine traffic stop on Blue Hill Ave. by the Boston Police Department and Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit resulted in the arrest of a Dedham man for firearm-related offenses late Monday night.

At 10:25 p.m., officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force were patrolling the area near Harvard St. and Blue Hill Ave. when they noticed a vehicle with revoked insurance.

After initiating a traffic stop near 883 Blue Hill Ave., officers discovered four individuals inside the car, including 25-year-old Jaydell Pouriet.

During the investigation, a hidden firearm was found inside the vehicle’s center console.

The Kel-Tec P3AT, equipped with five live rounds of .380 ammunition, was seized by YVSF detectives.

Pouriet was arrested and faces multiple charges including operating an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition.

He is scheduled for arraignment in Dorchester District Court on the listed charges.
