WATERBURY — Two individuals were arrested Nov. 1 after being found in a stolen vehicle with narcotics during a patrol operation conducted by multiple law enforcement task forces.
At around 2 p.m., officers from the Waterbury Police Department’s Auto Theft Task Force, Gang Task Force, and the Connecticut Violent Crime Task Force spotted a 2015 Toyota Rav 4, previously reported stolen from Southbury, parked at 836 East Main Street.
The vehicle was occupied by Abdulsatar Sulaivani, 35, of Waterbury, and Amanda Bizewski, 32, of Oxford.
As officers approached, Sulaivani tried to escape, colliding with a police cruiser in the process.
He was immediately taken into custody, while Bizewski was arrested without incident.
A search of the vehicle uncovered quantities of heroin and crack cocaine.
Sulaivani faces charges including larceny of a motor vehicle, operating without a license, interfering with an officer, criminal trover 2nd degree, possession of a controlled substance on two counts, and unsafe backing.
He is being held on a $70,000 bond and is expected to be arraigned today.
Bizewski is charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, with her bond set at $16,500 ahead of today’s arraignment.
Sulaivani has a prior criminal record that includes narcotics violations, robbery, and probation violations, as well as an outstanding warrant for probation violation at the time of his arrest.
Bizewski, with a history of narcotics and burglary offenses, had an active warrant for failing to appear in a separate case.
