PROVIDENCE — Troopers from the Lincoln Woods Barracks arrested a Providence man Sunday afternoon on a bench warrant and drug possession charges following a traffic stop.
Stephen Silva, 52, of 201 Pitman Street, was taken into custody at about 2:20 p.m. after being stopped on Broad Street.
He was wanted on a Providence Superior Court bench warrant for a technical violation related to an original charge of domestic violence.
Additionally, Silva is now facing a charge of possession of a controlled substance, specifically less than 10 grams of cocaine.
Following the arrest, Silva was transported to Miriam Hospital for evaluation.
He was arraigned and presented as a bail violator by the justice of the peace.
Subsequently, Silva was turned over to the custody of the Rhode Island Sheriffs.
