WORCESTER — A Worcester man was taken into custody early Friday morning on firearm charges following a disturbance on Park Avenue, police said.
At about 12:01 a.m., Worcester Police officers responded to a call about a commotion in the area.
When they arrived on the scene, officers encountered several individuals.
A man, later identified as Niko Ferraro, 26, of Fiskdale, exited a vehicle and dropped a firearm before fleeing on foot and scaling a barbed wire fence.
An officer near the vehicle noticed a firearm on the ground and discovered a Massachusetts ID inside the car with Ferraro’s photo.
The individuals at the scene were questioned, with one alleging Ferraro accused them of stealing a bag from his car, a claim they denied.
After being searched, they were permitted to leave.
Police apprehended Ferraro on Mason Street, where he exhibited fresh cuts and scrapes on his arms.
An investigation revealed Ferraro was not licensed to carry firearms and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
The Crime Scene Unit collected the firearm, and Ferraro was charged with carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and the existing warrant.
