Medford police search for suspect after overnight gunfire

MEDFORD — Medford Police Department is investigating after officers heard multiple gunshots during an overnight patrol on Nov. 1.

Two officers reported hearing about eight gunshots around 1 a.m. near 364 Boston Avenue.

Additional units responded, and a search was conducted with the help of Massachusetts State Police and Tufts University Police Department.

A firearm and several shell casings were found at the scene, but no victims or injuries have been reported thus far.

Witnesses described a suspect fleeing the area toward Bellevue Avenue, prompting a manhunt.

The police are continuing their efforts to identify and apprehend the person or persons responsible for the incident.

While the investigation is ongoing, authorities have indicated there is no active threat to the community.

However, they are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in the case.
