Two Biddeford residents arrested in connection with September murder

BIDDEFORD — Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit South, in collaboration with the Biddeford Police Department, arrested two local residents Monday night in connection with a murder that took place in September.

Garret Labonte, 45, and Linda Lambert, 57, both of Biddeford, were taken into custody without incident at approximately 9 p.m. at a residence on 63 South Street, authorities said.

The arrests were related to the death of 46-year-old Gene Dares, whose murder occurred in the area of 135-137 Foss Street in Biddeford on Sept. 27.

Labonte faces charges of murder, felony murder, and robbery.

Lambert has been charged with felony murder and robbery.

The two are being held at the York County Jail and are slated to appear in court tomorrow morning for their arraignment.
