BIDDEFORD — Maine State Police and Biddeford Police Department have arrested two individuals in connection with a September homicide, authorities said Tuesday.
Garret Labonte, 45, and Linda Lambert, 57, both of Biddeford, were taken into custody on Monday at around 9 p.m. at a South Street residence without incident.
The arrests stem from the investigation into the death of 46-year-old Gene Dares, whose murder occurred in the vicinity of 135-137 Foss Street.
Labonte faces charges of murder, felony murder, and robbery.
Lambert has been charged with felony murder and robbery as well.
The incident in question took place on Sept. 27.
The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit South led the investigation with assistance from local law enforcement.
Details regarding the circumstances of the crime have not been released, pending further investigation.
Both Labonte and Lambert are being held as the judicial process moves forward.
The case has shocked the local community and brought attention to the issue of violent crime in the area.
