Rhode Island task force arrests man on multiple warrants, including sexual assault

WAKEFIELD — Members of the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force apprehended Joseph M.

Woods, age 28, on Oct. 29, on multiple outstanding warrants related to sexual assault and domestic violence charges.

Woods, a resident of 33 Fagan Court 3rd Floor in Wakefield, was taken into custody without incident.

The arrest was the result of a coordinated effort to address outstanding warrants for individuals failing to appear in court.

The warrants included a Kent County Superior Court Bench Warrant for failing to appear at a pre-trial conference on an initial charge of second-degree sexual assault, filed by the East Greenwich Police Department.

Additionally, Woods faced another warrant for failing to appear at a violation hearing on a charge of domestic violence – unlawful breaking and entering, originally brought by the Warwick Police Department.

Moreover, Woods had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear at another violation hearing for a charge of second-degree sexual assault from the East Greenwich Police Department.

He was also wanted on a Kent County Superior Court Bench Warrant for a bail violation related to the charge of domestic violence – unlawful breaking and entering from the Warwick Police Department.

Following his arrest, Woods was transported to Kent County Court to face the charges.
