EAST HAVEN — The East Haven Police Department announced the arrest of Robert Andrus, 39, of New Haven, following an incident on Oct. 2 where he struck a police cruiser and led officers on a high-speed chase along I-95.

Andrus was apprehended and faces multiple charges including interference with an officer, reckless endangerment, engaging police in pursuit, and reckless driving among others.

He appeared in court on Oct. 25.

The chase began after an attempted traffic stop by East Haven officers, as Andrus had previously evaded a stop by Branford Police.

Officer Micah Belcher spotted the suspect’s vehicle entering a parking lot, and Officer Robert Celentano located Andrus as he exited another lot, striking Celentano’s cruiser in his attempt to flee.

Connecticut State Police eventually captured Andrus on I-95 northbound and charged him with several offenses, with additional charges from East Haven Police pending.
