TOPSFIELD — A routine check on a disabled vehicle by Topsfield police officers led to the arrest of a Waltham man on multiple drug charges early Wednesday morning.
During the overnight patrol, Topsfield Police Department officers encountered a vehicle stranded on Boston Street.
The investigation of the vehicle and its operator, identified as Abner Bernadeau of Waltham, resulted in the seizure of 70 grams of cocaine and 28 grams of marijuana.
Bernadeau was taken into custody and faces charges that include cocaine trafficking of 36 grams or more, possession with intent to distribute Class D drugs (marijuana), operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
The suspect has been detained and is awaiting arraignment.
Topsfield Police Department has not released further details pending ongoing investigations.
