Red pickup truck strikes officer during traffic stop in Reading

READING — A Reading Police officer was struck by a passing vehicle while conducting a routine traffic stop Saturday night, prompting authorities to seek public assistance in identifying the driver.

The incident occurred Oct. 28 at approximately 7:29 p.m. near 326 Lowell St. at Willow Street.

The officer was hit on the elbow by the side-view mirror of a passing pickup truck traveling east on Lowell Street before turning south on Willow Street.

Police Chief David Clark said the officer was treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and later released.

Authorities are searching for an older model red pickup truck with a black rear bumper and a light strip across the tailgate.

The vehicle was last seen heading south on Willow Street after the incident.

Reading Police are urging residents to review personal surveillance footage that may have captured the incident in the vicinity of Lowell and Willow streets.
