Man arrested for DUI after crashing into telephone pole in Waitsfield

WAITSFIELD — A Burlington man was arrested for driving under the influence after crashing his vehicle into a telephone pole early Saturday morning.

Vermont State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Vermont Route 100 and Vermont Route 17 in Waitsfield at 5:17 a.m. on Oct. 26, 2024.

Troopers investigating the scene determined that Emmett Edwards, 21, of Burlington, had struck a telephone pole with his passenger vehicle.

Following their investigation, police arrested Edwards on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Edwards was issued a citation to appear in Washington County Court-Criminal Division on Dec. 5 at 8:30 a.m.

No further details about the crash or the extent of damage to the vehicle or telephone pole were immediately available.
