Plymouth man fatally shot in parking lot, suspect in custody

PLYMOUTH — A 41-year-old man was fatally shot Tuesday evening in a public parking lot in Plymouth, police said.

The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department Communications Center received multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting on Middle Street at approximately 5:45 p.m., according to Plymouth Police Chief Dana Flynn.

The first officer on the scene confronted and arrested a male suspect without incident, Flynn said in a news release.

The victim was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Plymouth, where he was pronounced dead at 6:28 p.m.

Authorities are withholding the names of the victim and suspect pending notification of next of kin.

The investigation into the shooting remains active and ongoing, Flynn said.
