EDEN — A 21-year-old Eden man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a single-vehicle crash Friday night.
Vermont State Police responded to a report of a crash near the intersection of Griggs Road and East Hill Road in Eden at approximately 7:59 p.m. on Oct. 25, 2024.
Troopers, assisted by North Hyde Park Fire Department and Northern EMS, found a 2010 Honda CRV over an embankment with total damage.
The driver, identified as Coleman Scollard of Eden, was traveling south on Griggs Road when he failed to navigate a corner, left the roadway and crashed over the embankment, according to the preliminary investigation.
Scollard sustained an apparent minor eye injury in the crash.
While speaking with Scollard, troopers detected signs of impairment.
Authorities arrested Scollard on suspicion of DUI and transported him to the Morrisville Police Department for processing.
He was later released with a citation to appear at the Lamoille County Superior Court on Nov. 13 at 12:30 p.m. to answer to the charge of DUI, first offense.
The weather was clear and road conditions were dry at the time of the incident, police reported.
