Fatal crash on US Route 7 in Pittsford claims one life

PITTSFORD — A two-vehicle collision on US Route 7 near Channing Lane resulted in one fatality and minor injuries to another driver at 4:41 p.m. Friday.

Jeremy Eaton, 50, of Tinmouth, was pronounced dead at the scene after his 2008 Cadillac CTS crossed the center line and collided head-on with a southbound 2024 Volvo VNL tractor-trailer, according to Vermont State Police.

The tractor-trailer driver, Arieon Armstrong, 27, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Investigators said Eaton was traveling northbound when his vehicle veered into oncoming traffic.

He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Armstrong was wearing a seat belt.

Both vehicles sustained severe damage, with Eaton’s Cadillac suffering extensive front-end damage and Armstrong’s tractor-trailer being declared a total loss.

The crash occurred under dry road conditions and daylight visibility.

Vermont State Police from the Rutland Barracks responded to the scene, assisted by Regional Ambulance Service, Pittsford Fire Department, and Pittsford Police Department.

The incident remains under investigation.
