Boston police recover firearm, arrest suspect in Dorchester traffic stop

BOSTON — Boston police arrested a 34-year-old Dorchester man on gun charges following a traffic stop Wednesday evening.

Officers and Massachusetts State Troopers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force stopped a vehicle with excessively tinted windows at 130 Bowdoin St. in Dorchester at 6:26 p.m. Oct. 23, 2024.

Police identified the passenger as Davaughn Talbert.

During the stop, officers observed behavior indicating Talbert might be armed.

A search revealed a black Glock 26 9mm handgun in Talbert’s pants, loaded with 15 rounds in a large-capacity magazine.

Talbert faces charges including unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition and a large-capacity feeding device.

He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.

The vehicle’s driver, who was unlicensed, received a summons for operating without a license and was cited for motor vehicle infractions.
