HARVARD — Two individuals, including a juvenile, were arrested Tuesday in connection with a chimney repair scam targeting local homeowners, the Harvard Police Department said.
The suspects, identified as Irish Travelers, allegedly approached residents offering chimney repair services, demanding high payments for work that was either not completed or involved deliberate damage to chimneys, according to police.
Detective Genetti led the investigation that resulted in the arrests.
The adult suspect’s photo was released, but the juvenile’s image is being withheld due to age.
“These arrests highlight the Harvard Police Department’s commitment to safeguarding our community from fraudulent schemes,” the department said in a statement.
Authorities are urging residents who may have been approached by the suspects to contact Detective Genetti at [email protected].
The suspects will be afforded all legal rights and due process as guaranteed by law, police said.
Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement.
