Man in crisis safely taken into custody after standoff in Lebanon

LEBANON — A man threatening self-harm was safely taken into custody Friday after an hour-long standoff with police on Parkhurst Street.

Lebanon police responded to a report of a man in crisis at approximately 3:09 p.m. Oct. 25, 2024.

Officers secured the area and evacuated nearby residents as a precaution.

The man, who was in possession of a firearm, remained inside his residence.

After about an hour of negotiations, officers convinced him to exit without the weapon.

Police took the individual into protective custody without incident.

He was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for evaluation.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

The area has since reopened to the public.
