WEYBRIDGE — A Ripton man faces multiple charges after crashing his pickup truck into a ditch on Morgan Horse Farm Road Tuesday afternoon.
Stephen Brooks, 64, was arrested for driving under the influence and operating with a criminally suspended license following the incident, which occurred around 1:58 p.m. near Hamilton Road, Vermont State Police said.
Troopers responding to the scene found Brooks’ 2007 Ford F-150 had left the southbound lane before crashing.
While speaking with Brooks, officers observed signs of impairment.
Brooks refused to perform field sobriety tests.
He was taken into custody and transported to the New Haven Barracks for processing.
Authorities later released Brooks to a sober party.
He was issued a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division at a later date.
In addition to the DUI and suspended license charges, Brooks faces a civil violation for failing to maintain his lane of travel.
This marks Brooks’ third DUI offense, according to police.
No injuries were reported in the crash.
The pickup truck sustained front-end damage.
Brooks is scheduled to appear in court at 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 4.
