BOSTON — Officers from the Boston Police Department’s Drug Control Units arrested two suspects on charges of drug trafficking after an ongoing investigation led to a coordinated operation in the city.

At about 3:44 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 10, officers assigned to the Drug Control Units of District E-13 (Jamaica Plain), E-18 (Hyde Park), and B-3 (Mattapan) apprehended Walky LaChapel, 23, of Hyde Park, and Jose Abreu, 30, of Roxbury.

Authorities observed the suspects leaving an apartment at 29 West Milton Street and entering separate vehicles before officers attempted traffic stops.

LaChapel was stopped without incident, but Abreu refused to pull over, leading to a chase that ended when he crashed into a sidewalk on Maila Street.

Following a brief foot pursuit, Abreu was arrested.

Abreu has been charged with five counts of trafficking Class A substances, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating without a license, attaching plates, and two counts of trespassing.

He also had two active warrants for trafficking, possession, and distribution of controlled substances.

LaChapel was arrested on warrants for five counts of trafficking Class A substances.

On Wednesday, Oct. 16, officers executed search warrants at the same West Milton Street address, resulting in the seizure of approximately 220 grams of Fentanyl, 28 grams of Cocaine, multiple scales, baggies, cutting agents, and packaging materials.

Both LaChapel and Abreu were additionally charged with trafficking Class A and Class B substances after the search.

They were arraigned in West Roxbury District Court.
