Boston police arrest man with over $1,300 in stolen goods

BOSTON — Boston police officers arrested a man Tuesday afternoon for allegedly stealing more than $1,300 worth of merchandise from a Boylston Street store.

At about 3:45 p.m., officers from District C-4 (South End) responded to a report of a larceny in progress at 760 Boylston Street.

Upon arrival, they were given a description of the suspect, who had reportedly fled toward Ring Road.

The officers quickly located James Wheeler, 35, of Dorchester, matching the suspect’s description.

Wheeler was apprehended and handcuffed without incident.

Police recovered approximately $1,322 in stolen items and returned the merchandise to the store.

Wheeler has been charged with larceny over $1,200 and is expected to face arraignment in Boston Municipal Court.
