Concord man killed in South Main Street bicycle crash

CONCORD — A 61-year-old Concord man was pronounced dead after a collision between his bicycle and a motor vehicle on South Main Street, police said.

Joel Bashaw was riding his bicycle near the intersection of South Main Street and Holly Street on Oct. 23 when the crash occurred around 3:15 p.m. Authorities were alerted to the incident through 9-1-1 calls.

Concord Fire Department responders transported Bashaw to Concord Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The driver of the motor vehicle involved in the crash did not sustain injuries and cooperated with law enforcement on the scene.

The area surrounding the crash site was closed for an extended period as the Concord Police Department conducted its initial investigation.

Officers are continuing to look into the circumstances of the accident.
