Falmouth man critical after being struck by vehicle on Main Street

FALMOUTH — A pedestrian was seriously injured after being hit by a car on Main Street in Falmouth on Tuesday evening, authorities said.

The Falmouth Police Department reported that the incident occurred at around 5:16 p.m. near 614 Main Street.

Officers arriving at the scene found a 29-year-old Falmouth man unconscious on the sidewalk.

Emergency services from the Falmouth Fire and Rescue Department responded swiftly and transported the victim to a trauma center off Cape, where he is currently listed in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with the investigation.

The Cape Cod Law Enforcement Crash Reconstruction Unit, along with the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office, is aiding the Falmouth Police Department in determining the exact cause of the crash.

Preliminary findings suggest the man was struck when he entered the road outside a designated crosswalk, leading to a direct collision with the vehicle.

The Falmouth Police Department has stated that the investigation is ongoing and further updates will be made available as new information emerges.
