ROCHESTER — A man with multiple outstanding warrants was arrested Tuesday night after leading police on a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle, authorities said.

The pursuit began at 8:38 p.m. when an officer from the Epping Police Department attempted to stop the vehicle on Route 125.

The driver, later identified as Donald Nisbet, 38, of Rochester, sped away northbound, prompting a chase.

State Troopers from Troop A barracks joined the pursuit near the intersection of Route 125 and Route 9 in Barrington after being alerted to the situation.

They discovered that the vehicle had invalid plates and matched the description of one involved in a burglary that included the theft of firearms.

After a chase through Strafford County, Troopers deployed a tire deflation device on the Spaulding Turnpike Connector in Rochester, bringing the vehicle to a halt and apprehending Nisbet.

Nisbet faces charges as a Fugitive from Justice, including felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, receiving stolen property, felon in possession of a deadly weapon, and misdemeanor counts of disobeying an officer, aggravated driving under the influence, and operating after suspension (subsequent).

He was cited for reckless conduct and misuse of plates and had multiple warrants for theft-related charges and a bail violation.

Further charges are possible as the investigation continues.

Nisbet appeared in Rochester District Court on Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted in the pursuit and arrest, including the Epping, Lee, Barrington, Rochester, Farmington Police Departments, and the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office.

Matt Scotts Auto Center towed the stolen vehicle.

Trooper Stephen Galvin is leading the ongoing investigation, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact him at [email protected].
