NEW SWEDEN — Maine State Police continue their intensive search for Stefanie Damron, a 14-year-old Aroostook County girl who has been missing since Sept. 23.

State police received a report on Sept. 24 that Stefanie had not returned after walking into the woods near her home on West Road in New Sweden.

Troop F, along with the Major Crimes Unit North, spearheaded the investigation into her disappearance.

In a collaborative effort, the Major Crimes Unit North has joined forces with the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit and the FBI’s Child Abduction Rapid Deployment Team to maximize search efforts.

Despite widespread investigative work, including interviews and lead follow-ups in Maine, across the country, and in Canada, Stefanie has not been located.

Searches by the Maine Warden Service and Maine State Police K9 Unit have covered extensive areas around her last known whereabouts.

The ongoing investigation is a joint effort between the Major Crimes Unit and the FBI’s CARD team.

Stefanie is described as 5 feet tall, weighing 130 pounds, with green eyes and shoulder-length brown hair.

She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a long-sleeve blue shirt, and black Harley Davidson hiking boots.

Authorities urge anyone with information about Stefanie’s whereabouts to contact the Maine State Police Houlton Barracks at 1 (800) 924-2261 or (207) 532-5400.
