Maine man arrested on sexual abuse charges, police investigate explicit material distribution

EDDINGTON — Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit made an early morning arrest on Tuesday at a residence where they apprehended 42-year-old Norman Dean Fannin on an outstanding extraditable Oregon warrant for Class B felony sexual abuse that encompasses Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse.

The arrest at 153 Rooks Road occurred shortly after 7 a.m., followed by a search of Fannin’s home as part of a Maine State Police probe into allegations of Disseminating Sexually Explicit Material.

In a related action later the same day, around noon, the unit executed another search warrant at 1484 Rt. 1 in Hancock.

The search was in connection with an ongoing investigation into the Possession of Sexually Explicit Material.

Resident Peter Dysart, 47, was present during the search and has cooperated with authorities.

The findings from the investigation will be subject to review by the District Attorney’s Office upon its conclusion.
