Portland man arrested after threatening with a gun, firing shot

PORTLAND — A Portland man was arrested Sunday night after reportedly threatening someone with a gun and firing it into the ground, authorities said.

Portland Police responded to a call at 8:32 p.m. on Oct. 20 at the intersection of Forest Avenue and Bedford Street.

Officers located and arrested Matthew Litka, 28, on Fessenden Street shortly after the incident, according to a police statement.

Litka, who was found with the firearm, is facing charges of Criminal Threatening and Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon.

He admitted to discharging the weapon, police said, though no injuries were reported.

The suspect was booked into the Cumberland County Jail following his arrest.

Investigators are seeking additional information from the public.
