WATERBURY — In the early morning hours of Sept. 25, Waterbury police were called to the scene of a hit-and-run accident at Cooke Street and Grove Street, where 37-year-old Luis Caceras was found critically injured.
Caceras, a Waterbury resident, was riding his bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle.
He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Despite medical efforts, Caceras passed away on Oct. 2 due to the injuries sustained in the accident.
The Waterbury Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) launched an intensive investigation into the incident.
Their efforts led to the successful identification of the suspect, 32-year-old Glory Sanchez, also from Waterbury.
Law enforcement obtained an arrest warrant for Sanchez, who was apprehended on Oct. 17.
Sanchez faces multiple charges, including evading responsibility resulting in death, criminal misrepresentation, and failure to renew vehicle registration.
Currently, Sanchez is being held on a $150,000 bond.
