Man faces DUI, drug charges after traffic stop in Castleton

CASTLETON — A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of a Rutland Town man on charges of driving under the influence and drug possession early Saturday morning.

Vermont State Police from the Rutland Barracks discovered a disabled vehicle on US RT 4 near Exit 4 at 12:44 a.m.

The car’s operator, Justin Harris, 36, showed several signs of impairment during the troopers’ evaluation.

After screening, Harris was arrested for DUI.

A subsequent search uncovered a felony amount of suspected cocaine and additional narcotics.

Harris was taken to the Castleton Police Department for processing.

He is scheduled to appear at Rutland Superior Court – Criminal Division on a later date to face his charges.
