WORCESTER — Detectives from the Worcester Police Department’s Gang Unit, in collaboration with the Crime Gun Intelligence Unit, arrested a male juvenile on Oct. 17 after finding a 3D printed ghost gun during a traffic stop.
The incident occurred after Gang Unit detectives observed a vehicle almost causing an accident at the intersection of Major Taylor Boulevard and Green Street.
The vehicle was subsequently stopped on Harding Street, where officers noticed the rear passenger, a juvenile male, appearing nervous and clutching his waistline.
During the stop, detectives spotted ammunition and requested all occupants to exit the vehicle.
Upon exiting, the juvenile reached for his waistline, where detectives discovered the firearm.
The Crime Scene Unit processed the weapon and confirmed it to be a ghost gun, which is typically untraceable due to the lack of a serial number and is often self-assembled from parts.
The juvenile was arrested and faces multiple charges, including Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, and Possessing Ammunition Without an FID Card.
The driver of the vehicle received citations for an unsafe lane change and a stop sign violation but was released along with the front seat passenger.
