CLINTON — A response to a 911 hang-up call led to the arrest of a local man for violating his release conditions on Oct. 15.
Clinton Police Department officers, including Sgt. Roger Smith, rushed to an apartment at 1295 Main St. at approximately 5:25 p.m. after receiving the call.
Neighbors had reported loud noises coming from the residence that prompted concern.
Upon arrival, officers discovered Iver Cardwell, born Jan. 24, 1981, inside the apartment with a female, in breach of his release conditions.
Officer Joshua Chouinard subsequently obtained a search warrant for the premises, which was executed with assistance from Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
Cardwell initially refused to leave the apartment, forcing officers to enter by force.
He was found hiding in a bedroom and arrested following a brief resistance.
Cardwell, who has been arrested multiple times in recent months for similar violations stemming from a domestic violence case in Penobscot County, now faces a class C charge for Violating Conditions of Release and is being detained at Kennebec County Jail awaiting his court date.
Further charges may be forthcoming.
