PROVIDENCE — State Troopers conducted a series of arrests on October 15 and 16, following traffic stops and investigations in Providence, resulting in the apprehension of individuals on various charges including domestic violence offenses and fraud.
On the morning of October 15 at 9:23 a.m., Bryan Sornoza, 26, of Central Falls, was arrested for a first offense of violating a domestic no-contact order and obstructing an officer.
This arrest followed a motor vehicle stop on Atwells Avenue.
Sornoza was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and later transported to Sixth Division District Court for arraignment.
Later that same day, at 10:35 a.m., Alexander Guzman, 30, of Providence, was taken into custody on Charles Street after another stop.
Guzman faced charges for a third offense of violating a domestic no-contact order and simple assault pursuant to an affidavit arrest warrant from the State Police ACI Detective Unit.
He was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks before his arraignment at the Third Division District Court.
The following day, October 16, at 1:05 a.m., Ramon Baez Diaz, 36, also of Providence, was arrested on charges of second-degree sexual assault and simple assault.
The arrest was a result of an investigation by the barracks, with support from the Providence Police Department.
After processing at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, Baez Diaz was held overnight to await arraignment at Sixth Division District Court the next morning.
A few hours later, at 2:40 a.m., Shalimar Carpenter, 41, of Central Falls, was arrested on Harvard Avenue for obtaining money under false pretenses, providing false documents to a public official, and fraudulently obtaining assistance over $500.
These charges stemmed from the State Police Financial Crimes Detective Unit.
Carpenter was processed at State Police Headquarters and held for arraignment at the Sixth Division District Court.
