BOSTON — A man was arrested and a firearm seized following a traffic stop conducted by Boston Police Department officers in South Boston on Saturday.
At about 2:25 a.m., officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) pulled over 28-year-old Greg Wright of Braintree, MA, after observing his vehicle speeding along Boston St. and Ellery St. The officers, who were on patrol near Columbia Rd. and Mass.
Ave., used their emergency lights and siren to initiate the stop.
Upon approaching the vehicle, officers identified Wright and two other passengers, both of whom appeared to be breathing heavily and shaking uncontrollably.
A subsequent search led to the discovery of a firearm in the vehicle’s center console.
The recovered weapon, a Star B.
Echeverria S.A., was loaded with six rounds of .380 ammunition in a metallic feeding device and one round in the chamber.
Detectives from District B-2 responded to the scene and took charge of the investigation.
Wright was taken into custody and faces charges including Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License.
He also received a citation for speeding.
Wright is expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court.
