EAST BRIDGEWATER — A local man faces multiple charges, including possession of child pornography, following his arrest by the East Bridgewater Police Department, Chief Michael Jenkins announced Thursday.

Jason Giles, 21, of East Bridgewater, was taken into custody on Oct. 10 after a woman from Indiana, claiming to be an employee of Bikers Against Predators, alerted authorities about a man engaged in inappropriate online activities with minors.

The organization’s members were at a Central Street residence confronting the suspect at the time of the call.

Upon arrival, police spoke with the group’s representative who identified Giles as the individual involved.

An initial probe revealed that Giles had been communicating on Facebook Messenger with what he believed was a juvenile girl, part of an undercover operation conducted by another third-party group aiming to expose child predators.

Bikers Against Predators, a nonprofit dedicated to uncovering online predators and promoting awareness and education, subsequently identified Giles and his location.

During the investigation, authorities purportedly discovered child pornography videos in Giles’ possession and evidence of videos being sold online.

His phone was confiscated as part of the evidence.

Following the issuance of an arrest warrant, Giles was apprehended at his home without incident.

He has been charged with possession of child pornography, disseminating obscene matter to a minor, enticing a child under 16, and posing/exhibiting a child in a sexual act.

Giles was booked at the local police department and is being held on $500,000 bail.

He is expected to be arraigned at the Brockton District Court.
