BOSTON — Boston Police Department, in coordination with Massachusetts State Police and U.S.
Marshals, apprehended 32-year-old Diamond Jose Brito on Thursday evening in connection with the shooting death of Elijah Ricardo Clunie, officials said.
The arrest took place around 7 p.m. on Oct. 10 in the Mattapan area, following multiple warrants issued by the Dorchester District Court for Brito, a Canton resident.
Brito is facing charges for the murder of 20-year-old Clunie of Dorchester.
His arraignment is scheduled for Friday at the Dorchester District Court.
The investigation stems from a shooting incident that occurred at approximately 12:55 p.m. on Sept. 2, when police responded to reports of gunfire at 184 Washington Street.
Upon arrival, officers found two male victims with gunshot wounds.
Both were transported to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries.
Clunie was later pronounced dead at the hospital, while the second victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, is expected to survive.
Boston Police Homicide Unit continues to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
