Woman charged with DUI after fiery crash on North Fayston Road

FAYSTON — A single-vehicle crash late Thursday night left a Chevrolet Silverado totaled and its driver hospitalized with serious injuries.

Shannon Neill, 34, of Fayston, was driving on North Fayston Road near box number 1742 when her 2022 Chevrolet Silverado left the roadway and caught fire.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:41 p.m. under clear and dry conditions, with the road surface also reported to be dry.

Vermont State Police, accompanied by the Waitsfield and Moretown Fire Departments, as well as the Mad River Ambulance Service, responded to the scene.

Neill, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, sustained facial and torso injuries, including broken ribs.

Signs of impairment were noted by the troopers on the scene.

Neill was transported to Central Vermont Medical Center for evaluation and treatment of her injuries.

While at the hospital, she was issued a citation for suspicion of DUI and released to the care of medical staff.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and further details will be provided as they become available.
