Providence task force arrests four in drug, burglary, and solicitation crackdown

PROVIDENCE — In a series of coordinated arrests on October 8, law enforcement officials from various task forces detained four individuals on charges ranging from drug possession to burglary and solicitation of a child.

Kevend Castillo, 27, was apprehended by the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force.

Castillo, a Providence resident, faces charges for possessing and intending to deliver cocaine and fentanyl.

Following his arrest, he was processed at the Lincoln Barracks and arraigned in Sixth District Court.

In a related effort, Matthew McLaughlin, 39, also from Providence, was detained by HIDTA members.

McLaughlin is charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamines and fentanyl.

His processing took place at the Lincoln Barracks before his arraignment in Third District Court.

The Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force captured Lorenzo Roman, 18, of Johnston, on an arrest warrant for burglary, felony assault, and conspiracy linked to an armed home invasion investigated by the Cranston Police Department.

Roman was taken into custody without incident and handed over to Cranston Police.

Chad DeJesus, 37, from Fall River, Massachusetts, was arrested by the Computer Crimes Unit/Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force for indecent solicitation of a child.

DeJesus was processed at the Wickford Barracks and taken to Third District Court for arraignment.

Associate Judge O’Neill set bail at $2,500 with surety, imposing conditions including restricted Internet access and no unsupervised contact with minors.
