Boston police investigate fatal shooting in Roxbury

BOSTON — Officers from the Boston Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at 17 Hammond St. in Roxbury at about 1:36 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8, where they found a person suffering from a gunshot wound.

Upon arrival, the officers discovered the victim with injuries that appeared to be from a gunshot.

The victim was quickly transported to a local hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after.

The Homicide Unit of the Boston Police Department is actively examining the facts and circumstances that led to the incident.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Boston Police Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470.

To ensure the investigation’s integrity and to encourage community cooperation, the department is offering the option for individuals to provide tips anonymously.

The department assures the community that the identities of those who provide information anonymously will be protected.
