BOSTON — Boston Police Department officers arrested a man on firearm charges after a routine traffic stop early Tuesday morning.
At about 1:06 a.m., officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) pulled over a vehicle in the area of Columbia Road and Seaver Street due to an inoperable front headlight and non-illuminated rear lights.
Upon approaching the vehicle, the officers noticed additional issues, including a broken tail light and a passenger not wearing a seatbelt.
During the stop, officers identified the occupants and conducted a pat frisk of the vehicle.
They discovered a SAR 9 handgun with one round in the chamber and sixteen rounds in the magazine.
The passenger, Amir Massey, 32, of Dorchester, was arrested and charged with multiple firearms offenses, including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 4th Offense, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition Subsequent Offense, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon 3rd Offense, Resist Arrest, and Firearm Violation with 2 Prior Violent/Drug Crimes.
Massey is scheduled to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
