TEWKSBURY — Two individuals were arrested and charged with drug possession Monday night after Tewksbury Police conducted a motor vehicle stop that led to the discovery of narcotics.
Favio Garcia, 35, of Lowell, and Michaela Ryan, 22, from Tewksbury, are facing charges for possessing and intending to distribute Class B drugs.
The Tewksbury Police Department reports that Garcia is charged with distribution of a Class B drug, possession with intent to distribute a Class B drug (cocaine), and possession with intent to distribute a Class B drug (methamphetamine).
Ryan has been charged with possession with intent to distribute a Class B drug.
The arrests were made after the Tewksbury Police Narcotics Unit, operating in the area of Ames Hill Road, observed a suspected drug transaction involving a 2011 white BMW around 8:40 p.m., Monday, Oct. 7.
Officers stopped the vehicle and identified Garcia as the driver and Ryan as the passenger.
A search of the BMW yielded multiple clear bags of a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine, orange-colored pills later identified as methamphetamine, and more than $500 in cash.
Ryan was found in possession of two clear baggies of a substance also presumed to be cocaine.
In total, officers seized 7.7 grams of cocaine.
Both Ryan and Garcia were taken into custody without incident and are slated for arraignment in Lowell District Court on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
