Bellingham man injured in accidental shooting at home range

BELLINGHAM — A 46-year-old man was injured in an accidental shooting at his home’s private shooting range on Grove Street, Bellingham police reported Saturday.

The Bellingham Public Safety Dispatchers received a 911 call at approximately 12:49 p.m. reporting the incident.

Both police and fire departments were quickly dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers found the victim had sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the leg and was already being treated by individuals present at the range.

Bellingham Fire Personnel took over the care of the wounded man, who was then transported to a nearby hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.

The Bellingham Police Department is conducting a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Chief of Police Kenneth Fitzgerald is overseeing the investigation.
