ESSEX — A woman was arrested early Friday morning after allegedly trying to break into a home with a hatchet, according to Essex Police Department.
Police responded to a call at 12:37 a.m. on Densmore Drive where they were informed that Vicki Good, 44, of Essex, attempted to force entry into a residence using a tool.
Although Good had left the scene before officers arrived, her vehicle was still present.
K-9 Nova of the Essex Police was summoned to track Good, which led to the discovery of a fifteen-inch hatchet in the woods behind the house.
The tool showed signs of recent use on the residence’s front door.
K-9 Nova then led officers to a wooded area near another building where Good was found lying on the ground, hidden by trees.
Upon locating Good, officers issued verbal commands and approached to arrest her.
Good resisted arrest, but after a brief struggle, police managed to take her into custody without any injuries reported.
Further investigation revealed Good had explicit judicial orders to not be present at the residence on Densmore Drive, to avoid contact with the homeowner, and to abstain from alcohol consumption.
Good is now facing charges including Burglary, Possession of Burglar’s Tools, two counts of Violation of Conditions of Release, and Resisting Arrest.
She was held at Chittenden County Correctional Center with bail set at $500.
