Rutland police respond to school bus, SUV crash

RUTLAND — Officers from the Rutland Police Department and members of the Rutland Fire Department rushed to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of East County Road and Wachusett Street around 2:30 p.m. today.

The accident involved a school bus carrying approximately twenty children and an SUV.

Upon arrival, first responders found that, fortunately, there were no injuries to any of the individuals involved in the incident.

A second school bus was dispatched to the scene and successfully transported all of the children back to their homes without further incident.

The driver of the SUV, identified as 48-year-old Leonel Miranda Torres of Marlboro, was charged with operating a vehicle after suspension and a stop sign violation following the crash investigation.
