Serious collision at Keene intersection leaves one injured, car ablaze

KEENE — At approximately 2 a.m. on Oct. 3, a two-car motor vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Route 9 and Route 10, according to the Keene Police Department.

The crash involved a Subaru Legacy, driven by Margaret Batchelder, 36, of Plymouth, and a tractor-trailer operated by Adam Engelhart, 37, of Troy.

Authorities reported that Batchelder’s vehicle, heading south on Route 10, failed to halt at the stop sign and entered the path of Engelhart’s eastbound tractor-trailer on Route 9.

The impact caused the Subaru to catch fire.

Keene Police officers assisted Batchelder from the burning vehicle before she was transported by ambulance to Cheshire Medical Center with serious injuries.

The Keene Fire Department extinguished the vehicle fire.

The Keene Police Collision Analysis Team is investigating the crash, with assistance from the Keene Fire Department, New Hampshire State Police, and the NH Department of Transportation.
