WARE — A Ware man has been sentenced to 12-14 years in state prison after pleading guilty to multiple child sex crimes, including aggravated rape and possession of child pornography.

David Corey Dunn, born on Nov. 18, 1979, entered his plea in Hampshire County Superior Court on Oct. 1.

Along with the prison term, Dunn will face 8 years of probation with strict conditions, including sex offender registration and treatment, mental health and substance abuse evaluations, and GPS monitoring.

He is prohibited from unsupervised contact with children under 18, working or volunteering where children are present, and living in residences where children reside.

The charges against Dunn included four counts of aggravated rape of a child with a more than ten-year age difference, five counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, one count of open and gross lewdness, one count of posing or exhibiting a child in a state of nudity or sexual conduct, one count of assault and battery, and one count of possession of child pornography.

The investigation into Dunn’s activities began in May 2022 by Detective Ryan Downing of the Ware Police Department.

An arrest warrant was issued after Dunn abandoned his computer at the family home from which he had operated.

Family members turned the computer over to the police, and Trooper Josh Lemay of the State Police Detective Unit found a large collection of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), leading to the additional charge of possession of child pornography.

Assistant District Attorney Anne Vereniuk of the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office Child Protection Unit prosecuted the case, leading to Dunn’s conviction and sentencing.
