EAST HAMPTON — The East Hampton Police Department responded to a potential threat at the local middle school Thursday, prompting a lockdown and thorough search of the campus out of an abundance of caution.
Authorities lifted the lockdown after the threat was investigated and deemed unsubstantiated.
Students and staff remained safe throughout the incident, and the school schedule has since returned to normal, though officials warned parents to expect delays during pick-up time.
