MILTON — On Oct. 1, at approximately 4:54 p.m., Vermont State Police responded to a multi-vehicle crash on the northbound side of Interstate 89 near mile marker 103.
The collision involved four vehicles and resulted in the total loss of three cars.
Troopers from multiple barracks were dispatched to the scene where they found the vehicles had collided in a chain-reaction incident.
According to the initial investigation, Anthony Barcomb, 24, of Rouses Point, NY, driving a 2015 GMC Terrain, failed to yield to stopped traffic and rear-ended a 2018 Chevy Cruze operated by Taylor Alkassir, 25, from Highgate.
Subsequently, Edward Raymond, 44, also from Highgate, in a 2016 Chevy Malibu, and Megan Domina, 25, from Sheldon, in a 2023 Ford Explorer, were involved in the crash.
While all drivers were wearing seat belts, Alkassir suffered minor injuries and was transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMMC).
The other drivers reported no injuries.
The northbound lane of I-89 was narrowed to a single lane for about an hour, causing significant traffic delays as emergency services worked to clear the vehicles and debris.
The Vermont State Police are continuing to investigate the crash and are seeking information from individuals who may have witnessed it.
