SPRINGFIELD — A Springfield man was taken into custody on a warrant during a routine patrol of the local plaza by police, authorities said.

Springfield Police Department officers arrested Frank Garceau, after Officer Freeman encountered him at Springfield Plaza around 9:25 p.m. on Sept. 20, according to a department press release.

Officer Freeman, accompanied by Officer Clark, advised Garceau of an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Garceau was apprehended without incident and received a criminal citation to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on Sept. 23 to respond to the charge.

Following his arrest, Garceau was lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility pending bail.

The police emphasized that decisions regarding bail and incarceration are managed by the judicial system, not the police department.
